WUERFEL PARK -- On July 4th we celebrate the United States of America with a one of a kind evening. Before the game we will have a ceremony welcoming home all of the military personnel in attendance, both past and present. There will also be a fly over prior to the game. Following the 7:05 game between the Beach Bums and the Rockford Aviators, there will be the largest fireworks display of the entire season. This is not something you will want to miss.
Sunday, July 5th will be Faith Night at Wuerfel Park. First 250 fans through the gate will receive a special faith bracelet. Churches and religious organizations can receive special group rates, just call (231) 943-0100 for more information. Every Sunday is Family FunDay Sunday, where kids receive 1/2 their tickets and also can run the bases following the game. There will also be a team poster giveaway during the autograph session following kids run the bases.
WUERFEL PARK The Rockford Aviators drew blood first in this weekend series pitting the Frontier League’s two division leaders. The West Division front runners used early runs and an excellent start from Tony Rizzotti to defeat the East Division leading Traverse City Beach Bums 4-1 Friday night.
SAUGET, IL River City Rascals outfielder Brian Hansen and Traverse City Beach Bums starting pitcher Kramer Champlin have been named the Frontier League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation.
JOLIET, IL Ian MacDougall allowed just a single unearned run over seven innings to lead the Traverse City Beach Bums to a 3-1 win at the Joliet Slammers on a cool night Wednesday. He struck out three, walked none and allowed just four hits. The win improves the left-handers record to 6-1, moving him into a tie for the most wins in the Frontier League.
