Hall Ties Record In 10-1 Loss
MARION, IL—The Traverse City Beach Bums fell behind early and never recovered as they lost game two of a three-game series to the Southern Illinois Miners in front of 4,694 fans at Rent One Park Saturday night by a score of 10-1.
The Slammers struck for six runs in the first and second innings, highlighted by a three-run home run from second baseman Will Block, his fourteenth of the season, to give the Miners a 6-1 lead. They would tack on three more runs in the sixth inning when Block lined an RBI-triple to left-center field, scoring left fielder Eric Suttle and giving Southern Illinois a 10-1 lead.
The only highlight of the night came when left fielder J.T. Hall launched an opposite-field home run down the left field line to lead off the second inning. The home run was Hall’s nineteenth of the season, tying him for the Beach Bums single-season home run record. The record was set by first baseman Chase Burch last season.

In his last two starts, Smith has only pitched a total of 1.2 innings. Miners starting pitcher David Harden (6-5) earned his sixth win with seven innings two-hit baseball allowing just a single run in the contest.
With the loss, the Beach Bums record falls to 40-37, while Southern Illinois improves to 48-28 on the season. Hall and
