TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- The Traverse City Beach Bums(10-15) suffered three multi-run innings, giving up three or more runs in each, falling to the Windy City Thunderbolts(10-14) by a final score of 12-2.

In the first, nine men came to the plate for Windy City as Tyler Straub picked up an RBI single, Andrew Dundon scored on a wild pitch, and Blair Beck was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, for a 3-0 lead. With one out in the fourth, Will Kengor smacked his league-leading 12th double of the season. He then moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when Luke Lowery grounded out to pull the Beach Bums within two.

The Thunderbolts pulled away in the sixth as they brought ten men to the plate and scored six runs. Beck hit an RBI double, Tim Zier and Dundon followed with RBI singles, and Larry Balkwill capped off the frame with a three-run triple, for a 9-1 lead. Traverse City picked up a run in the seventh on a mini two out rally when Isaac Benard walked, and Luke Lowery and Donald Glover Jr. singled. Beck added three more runs in the eight with his second homer of the season.

Zac Westcott earned the win tonight with a seven inning effort, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk, improving to 1-4. Adam Cornwell survived into the fifth but gave up six runs on six hits and six walks as he fell to 0-4 in the season. Karl Blum and Matt Williams each had solid performances out of the bullpen but the bats just couldn't overcome the deficit.

The Beach Bums and Thunderbolts will finish off this weekend's three game series with the rubber game, this evening.
