TRAVERSE CITY, MI- For the second consecutive game, the Traverse City Beach Bums(7-8) and Evansville Otters(8-7), locked up in a low-scoring contest but, tonight it was the Beach Bums who came out on top by a final score of 2-1 in 12 innings.

Evansville put a notch on the scoreboard first, in the second inning, when Brandon Dulin singled in Jeff Gardner for a 1-0 lead. In the fourth, Steve Lohr led off with an infield single then moved to second when Donald Glover Jr. singled. With two outs, Arby Fields hit a base hit to right field, scoring Lohr to tie the game.

Both teams had numerous opportunities to gain the lead but no one could do it in the regulation nine innings. Neither team threatened in the tenth, but in the 11th, the Beach Bums had Glover Jr. At third with one out but a failed suicide squeeze killed the rally. In the top of the 12th, Travis Harrison was on third for Evansville but he was gunned down at the plate by Kenny Peoples-Walls. Finally, in the bottom of the inning, with Max Dutto at second and one out, Isaac Benard hit soft single to left to win the game.

John Michael Knighton was fantastic in pitching the last three innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three to improve to 3-1. Kyano Cummings survived the 11th but not the 12th, giving up the winning unearned run and dropped his record to 0-2. With the win, the Beach Bums take the weekend series from Evansville, two games to one.
