TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums(26-27) were down to their last strike twice in the ninth but upended the Schaumburg Boomers(27-26) by a final score of 4-3, taking the rubber game of this weekend’s series. 

For the third night in a row, Schaumburg got the lead off man on and brought him in to score. Tonight, Jack Parenty came in on a Ty Moore ground out for a 1-0 Boomers lead. With one out in the fourth, Isaac Benard and Will Kengor hit back-to-back singles, the second moving Benard to third. Steve Lohr drove him home with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one. Schaumburg responded immediately in the top of the fifth when Parenty drove in a run on a single. Zack Weigel followed the next inning with a solo homer for a 3-1 Boomers lead.  

With one out in the ninth inning, Luke Lowery picked up a walk and Alexis Rivera singled, putting the tying run on base. After Orlando Rivera replaced Alexis at first, and with two outs, Connor Oliver walked to load the bases. Kendall Patrick followed with a walk of his own to pull the Bums within one then Ryan Kemp walked to tie the game, moving the tying run to third. After a pitching change, Isaac Benard slammed a single off the wall in right, sending the Wuerfel Park crowd into a frenzy as Oliver scored the winning run.

Matt Williams earned the win in relief after hurling two perfect innings, improving to 2-1. Jake Joyce is dealt the loss, giving up three runs in the ninth on four walks and a hit. He falls to 2-1. With tonight’s comeback victory, the Beach Bums have won their last four series. 

Tuesday night, the Beach Bums hit the road to start a six game road trip. The first three game set will be at UC Health Stadium in Florence, KY, against the Florence Freedom. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for 6:35pm and Tom Willms will have the call, starting with the Budweiser pregame show, at 6:15pm. You can listen along from anywhere in the world at
