BEACH BUMS ALL-STARS COMPETE WITH BEST IN FRONTIER LEAGUE

O'FALLON, MO -- The Traverse City Beach Bums(24-26) had five players selected to play in the 2018 Frontier League All-Star Game. All five made an appearance in the mid-summer classic, won by the Experienced team over the Rookies, by a final score of 8-3.


Isaac Benard was the starting right fielder for the Rookie Team. He ended up 1 for 2 with a double in the fourth inning and scoring a run. Will Kengor made his third consecutive All-Star appearance when he entered the game in the top of the fifth inning as a defensive substitution at his familiar shortstop position. He finished the game 0 for 1 with a walk. Steve Lohr came into the game in the sixth to play at first base, he ended up 0 for 1 with a groundout in his only plate appearance.

On the pitching side of things, Jordan Desguin entered the game in relief in the fourth, allowing two hits, including his Beach Bums teammate Benard, for his double run. John Michael Knighton was the last Traverse City player to enter the game when he came in to pitch in the eighth inning. He got through the inning in perfect fashion with a strikeout, helping the Experienced Team hold the lead for the win.

The Beach Bums return from the All-Star break, and start up again at Wuerfel Park, on Friday to start a three game set against the Schaumburg Boomers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and Tom Willms will have the call, starting with the Budweiser pregame show, at 6:45pm. You can listen along from anywhere in the world at TCBeachBums.com.
