A native of LaPorte, IN, Antos spent his collegiate career at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne where he played for four years. With the Mastadons, Antos served as both a starting pitcher and in relief. During his senior year, he posted a 4-6 record and a 6.35 ERA in 16 games, including nine starts. Antos nearly doubled his innings from his junior year with 68 while averaging and impressive 8.74 strikeouts per nine innings.
“Antos is a big right-hander that I had my eye on before he signed with the Florence Freedom last summer. I got to see him pitch in the Prospect League in 2008 when he was the Closer of the Year and he was dominant,” said Director of Baseball Operations, Jason Wuerfel, “Unlike most bullpen guys, he has three or four professional quality pitches, but what I like the most is he attacks the zone and challenges hitters. He should be a good fit pitching in Wuerfel Park.”
Most recently Antos played for the Florence Freedom, also members of the Frontier League. Antos was signed on July 7, 2010 by the Freedom right before the Frontier League All-Star break. Antos finished the season with the Freedom and saw 1.2 innings where he posted a 5.40 ERA and struck out three.
