2011 Breast Cancer Awareness Jersey Auction
The Beach Bums showed their support for all the women and the families that have fought and experienced the evils of breast cancer. The Beach Bum players wore special pink jerseys on August 5, 2011 to show their support, and the jerseys were auctioned off at the conclusion of the game, with all proceed going towards Breast Cancer Awareness and research.

2011 4th of July -- Welcome Home Celebration
The Beach Bums concluded their six-game homestand with a final game against the Florence Freedom on Monday, the 4th of July. If there was ever a night to visit Wuerfel Park and take in a baseball game -- the 4th of July tomorrow evening. Thank you to all the new and old Beach Bums fans who came out to the park and helped us celebrate our independence and the very special men and women, veterans and current military personnel, who have helped us maintain our liberty. Beach Bums players wore special patriotic jerseys that were auctioned off -- with winners receiving the jerseys off the players backs after the game. Extra special FANtastic Fireworks sponsored by Team Bob's ended the evening the evening with a bang..

2010 - THROWBACK JERSEY AUCTION
The Traverse City Beach Bums wore throwback jerseys each Thursday home game during the season. These jerseys were auctioned off on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 with the proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Michigan.

2010 WELCOME HOME CELEBRATION
All members of the military, active, reserve and retired are considered very special fans of the Traverse City Beach Bums and the Wuerfel family. Our 'WELCOME HOME' Celebration was held on Saturday, July 3rd in 2010 and was an extra special day used to celebrate these special men and women, say "THANK YOU!" and play some great baseball.

JUNE 19 -- BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
The Beach Bums players and coaches played in the 2010 version of the Beach Bums pink jerseys during this special Saturday game. The jerseys were auctioned off with the proceeds staying right here in Traverse City and going to Munson. Winning bidders were be able to go down on the field and recieve their jersey right from the players with the moment caught by John L. Russell.

THROWBACK JERSEY AUCTION -- AUG 13, 2009
The Grand Traverse Heritage Center was the evening's sponsor. The Heritage Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the Grand Traverse region. The Heritage Center maintains the Con Foster Collection and a museum on Grand Traverse history. The Traverse City Beach Bums capped the special evening with a win and a jersey auction. INSTALLING A NEW FIELD--FALL 2007
Wuerfel Park is going from natural turf to GeneralSports Venue GameDay XPe. XPe is a state-of-the-art natural-looking infill turf. Work began on September 11th when the red infield and warning tracks were bulldozed up and briefly stockpiled before being trucked to their new homes. The red was donated to two area high schools, Glen Lake and Leelanau St. Mary’s.
The playing field has been lowered eight (8”) and compacted. Six (6”) of packed gravel will be hauled in to serve as a base and the GameDay XPe turf will bring the field back up to its original height.
“The sports turf will give us a wealth of choices in how we are able to use our field, from early in the season to late. We won\\'t have to worry about covering the infield during inclement weather, or the multitude of maintenance that is required to properly maintain a professional natural turf field,” said Wuerfel. “It’s a win-win situation.”
WELCOME HOME VETS CELEBRATION
The 2008 4th of July celebration at Wuerfel Park will be one that will be long remembered. The weather was perfect. Beach Bums fans turned out to fill the ballpark, the second largest crowd in the Park\\\\'s two and a half year history. The Beach Bums won. The 4th of July FANtastic fireworks presentation was fantastic. However, what will live in the memories of those present, will undoubtedly be the "WELCOME HOME CELEBRATION" that began with the invitation from Beach Bums CEO/President for veterans and active military personnel to join him on the field. It was the start of this extra special night.

PATRIOTIC JERSEY AUCTION 2008
The Traverse City Beach Bums wore special patriotic jerseys which fans were able to bid on in a silent auction, even the jerseys worn by Suntan & Sunburn were purchased by Beach Bums\' fans. The proceeds of the auction will be used to benefit area youth athletics with an emphasis on baseball and softball. Thank you to all the bidders who helped to make the auction such a success!
