TRAVERSE CITY, MI – After a season-opening six game road trip, the Traverse City Beach Bums(3-4) had a successful homecoming with a 4-1 win over the Lake Erie Crushers(3-4).

After a scoreless first inning, the Beach Bums got the scoring started in the second. With one out, Elijah Trail singled to centerfield. Kendall Patrick drove him home with an RBI double that skimmed to the left field wall, and it was 1-0.

Traverse City added on in the fourth inning, putting up three runs on four hits. Will Kengor led off the frame with a single to right. Alexis Rivera smacked a double to right, moving Kengor to third, and with those hits, each extended their hitting streaks to seven games. Trail followed them with a 2-run double to left, then Giancarlo Brugnoni drove him in with a single, giving them a four run advantage.

Lake Erie got on the board in the top of the seventh with sacrifice fly by Robb Paller. He drove in Sean Hurley who walked then moved to third when Josh McAdams singled to center. After going down in order in the eighth, the Crusher got a two out walk in the ninth, but McAdams fouled out to end the ball game.

After three straight high-scoring contests, Kramer Champlin kept the runs to a minimum, going seven innings, allowing one run on five hits, a walk, and he struck out three. At one point, he retired 11 in a row, and with the win, he improves to 1-1. Lake Erie starter, Diego Ibarra, had a solid stretch, after giving up the four runs, retiring the last seven to face him, but he suffers the loss to go to 0-1. Jake Ezell, replaced Champlin to start the eighth, and got six of the seven he faced to earn his first save.
