TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Barker finished the 2016 Frontier League season with a team-best 1.44 ERA.  He also led the team with 42 appearances, most of which coming in the eighth and ninth innings, earning seven saves.  He allowed 40 hits while walking just 10 on the season, and he struck out 83. Facing 240 batters on the year, his held opponents to a .176 batting average. Ending the season strong, Luke did not allow a run in his last nine appearances, only allowing two hits over that time. Barker’s efforts helped the Beach Bums’ staff to the lowest team ERA in the league at 3.77. 

Barker, who was signed out of the California Winter League, played collegiality at Chico State, going 16-11 with a 2.91 ERA. As a senior, he was All-West region and a 1st team CCAA conference honoree. In his junior season, he led all of NCAA division 2 in saves with 18.
