Jason Wuerfel enters his eighth season as the Vice President of the Beach Bums and his sixth as the Director of Baseball Operations. He is in charge of player procurement.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he earned four varsity letters in baseball and won the 2003 Wolverine Award for Spirit and Leadership. After college, Wuerfel's professional baseball career included stints with the Elmira Pioneers, Mid-Missouri Mavericks, and the Ohio Valley Redcoats. In addition to his work in the front office with the Beach Bums, Jason served as the team's hitting coach in 2008 and bench coach from 2009-2011. He also spent two years (2009-2010) as the Field Manager of the Butler BlueSox of the Prospect Collegiate League.

Currently, he owns and operates the Beach Bums Baseball Academy, which offers a variety baseball-specific training programs, camps, and private lessons, and is the founder of Five Tool Prospects, a baseball website that covers all aspects of the game (www.fivetoolprospects.com). Jason is the author of one novel entitled, Pray for Rain: A College Baseball Story, and is nearing completion on a second novel.

Jason lives and works in Indianapolis, Indiana, during the off-season. His wife, Sarah, graduated from the Indiana University School of Law in May, 2007, and now is a law clerk for Judge Sarah Evans Barker. Jason and Sarah welcomed their first child, Callie, in November 2011.
